The God Who Sees Me

Throughout the month of June, we as a church are traveling with Abraham and Sarah in all their earnest, imperfect, and all-too-human attempts to believe God’s promises and live the way that God has called them to live.  Two weeks ago, we heard Abram’s call story, where God called Abram to leave his home and to trust that God would show him the way forward… even if the destination was unclear.  And last week, Sheena spoke about God’s promise that Sarah would bear a son, despite her advanced age, a promise so comical that Sarah couldn’t keep herself from laughing out loud.

And well… this week, the story gets tough. We are going to hear the story of Abraham and Sarah and Hagar and Ishmael and Isaac.  By widening our focus, we will be reminded that no one travels in isolation.  Our lives, and our faith journeys, are intricately interwoven with those around us, all who travel with us.

In our message, we will hear Hagar’s story, and we will all be reminded of the blessing of serving a God who truly sees us for exactly who we are.
